JP Harris is serving his third consecutive term as the elected alternate retiree trustee on the Board of Retirement. Mr. Harris was the elected alternate safety member trustee from 2008 until his retirement in April 2010. He served 35 years with the Sheriff’s Department in a variety of capacities, retiring as a lieutenant. It was as unit commander of the Sheriff’s Health and Safety Unit that he obtained his knowledge of return-to-work and workers’ compensation programs, and their interrelationship with disability retirement issues.
His notable accomplishments include:
