LACERA retirees have a choice of several indemnity plans and one Medicare supplement plan from Anthem Blue Cross of California: Plan I, Plan II, Prudent Buyer, and Plan III (Medicare Supplement).

An indemnity plan is fee-for-service health insurance. You pay a certain amount in medical expenses each year (annual deductible). You pay for services at the time you receive care from the provider or hospital. You submit a claim and are reimbursed a portion of covered expenses by the plan.

2025 Update for Anthem I, II, and Prudent Buyer Plans

Effective July 1, 2025, the lifetime maximum benefit for these plans will increase from $1 million to $1.5 million.
