Assessor’s Office Seeks Retired Former Employees for Wildfire Disaster Recovery Efforts

LACERA is assisting the L.A. County Assessor’s Office in reaching out to all retired LACERA members who have worked for the Assessor in the past in any capacity (including appraisers, GIS techs, administrative staff, etc.) to assist with disaster relief and recovery efforts.
With over 16,000 properties affected—many of which have been severely damaged or destroyed—and the potential for more, the anticipated workload will exceed the Assessor’s Office’s current resources.
To meet the growing demand, the Assessor’s Office seeks your expertise for misfortune and calamity work, which will allow active staff to focus on producing the assessment roll (adding value to the property tax roll and local revenues).
Some of the key tasks you will perform include:
- Providing support at local disaster centers, assisting individuals with misfortune and calamity and decline-in-value claims
- Conducting site visits to damaged properties
- Performing initial appraisals and cost-to-cure valuations
Your professional assistance will make a significant impact in managing this critical situation and ensure a timely and effective response. If you are available and want to help, please complete this interest form.
If you have any questions, contact El Cid De Ramus at (213) 249-1908 or ederamus@assessor.lacounty.gov
