Board of Retirement Trustee Vivian H. Gray Retires After Years of Dedicated Service
Trustee Vivian H. Gray will retire on December 31, 2024, after a long career serving L.A. County residents and LACERA members. Her career achievements include 10 years as a deputy sheriff for the County Sheriff’s Department and senior founding attorney for the Alternate Public Defender’s Office.
Ms. Gray was elected by general members to four consecutive terms on the Board of Retirement (BOR), beginning her first term January 1, 2013. Her leadership roles include BOR Chair (2018) and Vice Chair (2016, 2020–21) as well as officer positions on several pivotal committees, including: Disability Procedures and Services Committee Chair (2015–17); Joint Organizational Governance Committee Chair (2024); Insurance, Benefits, and Legislative Committee Chair (2024) and Vice Chair (2013, 2017, 2020–24); and Audit Committee Vice Chair (2018) and Secretary (2016, 2017, 2021, and 2024). She was also active in the Operations Oversight Committee.
During her tenure, Ms. Gray’s leadership roles extended to LACERA’s peer organizations, including President of the State Association of California Retirements Systems (SACRS) and Chair of the SACRS Program Committee.
